Not 100% accurate.
An ABN is required if you are operating an enterprise.
An enterprise, among other things, is an activity or series of activities done in the form of a business. Your enterprise, if it is in the form of a business, must have commenced trading or have undertaken sufficient activities to establish an enterprise.
To me, running a hosting "business" is considered to be running an enterprise. Of course, I'm not accountant, but this could hardly be considered that of a hobby.
Of course, this is a discussion for another area, but as far as my tax knowledge is concerned, Necro Solutions should have an ABN, regardless of if they are operating online or not otherwise one would state that every hosting business operating in NSW would be able to trade without an ABN.
I doubt that is the case at all.
