I'm currently already with an Australian-based cPanel/WHM provider (25GB disk space, 50GB/mo bandwidth) but looking to move on due to problems with uptime over an extended period.

The sites on the server are mostly personal sites, with some small business sites in the mix too. My budget is up to $100 per year (paid annually), and here's what I'd like as a minimum:

- disk space: 15GB
- bandwidth: 60GB/mo
- price certainty: assurance that subsequent renewal of hosting would not be at a higher price
- location: Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane (in that order of preference)
- unlimited stuff: cPanel accounts, FTP accounts, mailing lists, email accounts, MySQL databases, subdomains, parked domains and addon domains
- uptime: minimum of 99.5% uptime guarantee
- backups: nightly backups
- support: reasonably responsive online support
- migration: easy and seamless migration of up to 20 cPanel accounts from current provider
- DNS: continuation of the current virtual DNS that I currently have set up (ie. ns1.mydomain.com, ns2.mydomain.com...) using the same IP addresses as your standard DNS servers
- maintenance: strong preference for scheduled outage/maintenance windows to be normally well outside peak hours (eg. between 12am-6am)

I think though that your budget is a little small for your requirements. All those inclusions - 99.9% uptime, nightly backups, 20 cPanel accounts and Sydney based servers we can do.

For $100/yr the disk space and data allowance is generous and for the price may mean you go on an overloaded server/network.

What's your actual usage on a monthly basis? Given that you have mostly personal sites do you see this increasing much in the future?

Hi there, I have to concur with Ari in that your budget is a bit too small to get a reasonable account.

There may be some hosting providers out there that are overselling their services on ancient hardware, but this inevitably leads to a degraded quality of service.

As a point of comparison, our clients happily pay $140/annum for 1GB space and 10GB bandwidth bundled with exceptional customer support.
