Smile Problems with current host

Hi

I am having communication problems with my host - they are trying to be as helpful as they know how, but I don't think their command of English is great.

Here's my predicament. I got my domain from a separate company to the host and now when I try and load my page (which only just propagated this morning) I only get the parking page of my domain registrar.

After a little fiddling, I realised that I can load the page, but not with the www before the domain name. My domain is quikchangeclinic.com.au but when I add the www it won't load.

Since then I opened a ticket with my host who has since tried to redirect the page, but now the page won't load at all.

I don't know how to explain to the host how to fix the problem as I'm a newbie and they don't seem to understand either.

If I go into the cpanel and take off the redirection they have put on, I can load the page again, but not with the WWWs.

How can I fix this?

Cherie

Hello Cherie,

By the sounds of things you might be missing an 'A' record in your DNS, if you don't have an 'A' record added for your 'www' - that will be your issue.

If you have any problems, ask your hosting provider to check your 'A' records, and do a general check on all your DNS records.

Cheers,
Guy

Many of these problems can be fixed using the control panel. Which control panel, if any, is used with your hosting?

I believe Cherie is using cPanel according to the OP.

However, I wouldn't be sure if her host (I believe its HostDime) would allow her to manually edit her DNS records via cPanel.

quikchangeclinic.com.au. 14400 IN A 66.7.221.199

Records exist on both nameservers, and the site loads with both, loading the www redirects to the domain name without the www.

So it seems fixed.

Re: Problems with current host

I know, I just emailed your suggestion to my host and they must have tried it and it worked, they just replied it was all working a few seconds ago.

Thanks a lot for all your help to you and everyone who replied.

I am very happy now and a lot less frustrated! LOL
