First and foremost we are a web development company and not a pure web hosting company. As such the hosting clients we have are more profitable then the run of the mill cheap host account.

There are 42 host accounts up for grabs which bring in revenue of $20820 per year, an average of $495 per account. All accounts are paid annually and spread throughout the year.

Over the years we acquired a number of clients who have wanted us to look after their hosting for them along with their web development. As such these clients have been charged a premium for this service and they are high quality and long term hosting clients; many of which have been with us for a few years and will not be cancelling their accounts.

We are seeking expressions of interest from quality web hosting companies who can take on these accounts from us and look after them in the same way we have. We know each of these accounts personally and have met each client face to face so we have built good strong relations with them. They trust us and I would like the company who takes these accounts to establish a similar relationship. This is very important.

As a web development company we do not lease any servers for the hosting we provide our clients. All accounts are on American reseller accounts which we can simply transfer to the buyer or can assist with the transfer to the buyer's server. Average cost per account to set up is around $50- 60 per year.

The host accounts range from simple brochure type websites to content managed sites through to ecommerce stores. All accounts are Aussie sites run by Aussie businesses.

Largest bandwidth is for a AFL website of 7.3GB per month currently.

We run one account on our own website's dedicated server for email marketing (reseller accounts do not allow the mass sending of email via an automated newsletter system).

I have listed the payments for each account for sale below. Obviously no domain name is displayed.

In terms of what we are expecting from the sale of these clients is reflective of the quality of the client in terms of relationship with us and the length of time they have been with us and of course the profit per account. Profit for all acounts approximately $18850 per year.

We have minimal support for these accounts but obviously help out with any queries or issues people may have with their account. All these issues are relayed to the reseller host and we simply act as an intermediary for the two. As stated before we are not a hosting company so having accounts that take up our time are not attrative.

We are selling our whole business including the web development side of things but we are more than happy to sell the hosting clients off seperately to a dedicated hosting company.

The maintenance work you refer to, I assume this is on the sites of the hosting clients your are selling

Assuming one person buys the hosting accounts and another the design/maintenance side and the second person also provides hosting how can the buyer of the hosting plans be protected?

Even if the purchaser of the design side of things didn't actively poach the hosting, the chances are very strong the clients will say "why don't you do the hosting as well as that is what we have always done and it is a lot easier for us to deal with just one person?"

Thereby making the purchase of the hosting side alone a not too attractive proposition

Just curious to see if you have considered this and have something in place to proctect a prospective hosting buyer
