Looking for hosting suitable for multiple domains (reseller/VPS probably)

I'm looking preferably for this to be on Melbourne servers. Would consider Sydney/Brisbane/Canberra or possibly other Aus locations depending on connectivity.

I have a few domains I currently have hosted with several different hosting companies both in Australia and the US. I'm having some issues with support from one of the Aus hosts at the moment (multiple problems all appeared at once, and are taking a long time to rectify). Ideally I'm looking to consolidate all of the domains into a single account with a single provider (obviously). I assume I need a reseller account for this kind of thing? I guess VPS might be an option too, but not sure what practical differences this would make.

Basic requirements

- 3-5 domains now (possibly more later, needs to be easy to move to more domains)
- 2GB disk now, probably 3-5GB down the track
- 5-10GB of transfers (most of the traffic is text email at the moment but I do host a couple of very low traffic websites and photo galleries that I might grow)
- plenty of email accounts and SQL DBs (although it appears most reseller accounts offer unlimited email/SQL/FTP etc.)

I need to be able to host and manage DNS so I can create/modify/delete MX and A records etc. eg: I need to be able to set up DNS records pointing to non-hosted sites/IPs, like xyz . mydomain . com . au pointing to a server on another network.

Would strongly prefer Linux based hosting as it's what I'm used to. I've used CPanel with Fantastico in the past and that's probably the best thing to stick with.

Something else that's somewhat important is good webmail. I've seen one or two companies offer @Mail which would be fantastic, but I'm not sure if that's something most hosting companies are offering? I guess the other possibility would be the ability to run a product like Scalix or Zimbra, but I'm not sure if that would be possible on reseller hosting, or even a VPS?

At the moment I don't have a need for dedicated IPs/individual SSL certs, but pricing on these options would be good to know about too.

If possible please provide (or link to) an example IP I can ping/trace to, and a test download if possible. Obviously these should be on the same servers/network you'd be offering, not just any old IP/server in your best DC.

I'm still looking at my options at the moment so I probably won't jump immediately, and that also means I don't yet have a firm budget, but I have already done a little bit of research.

Dear ninsei,

You are definately on the right track with what you are after.

Your could either go for a reseller solution as you already mentioned or a VPS soltution...this would vary on a number of factors including your budget as you are well aware.

It would really depend on how much control you wanted to have.

We can provide reseller plans that include Fantastico Deluxe and RVSitebuilder included in them. You can view our current reseller hosting specials here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com.au/showthread.php?t=6507

All our our reseller plans have the ability to edit the DNS Zones as you requested.

We can also offer VPS solutions which are a full LAMP solution (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) which will also do everything you are after.

You can view our VPS solutions at: http://www.hightekhosting.com/vps.php

We are also able to offer @Mail to you if desire it.

If you require any further information, feel free to contact us and we can assist in recommending the correct product for your needs.

I have provided some further information via PM.

Regards,

Dale Evans
Manager
