Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has experience or can guide me in the right direction to similar site software like what is used on this site?

I think it's a custom search facility. This looks like some relatively simple PHP / MySQL search functionality (with a little javascript).

I must say that the search was extremely slow for me - it took around 20 seconds to return a 10 record result.

I would agree with Tekhaus.
There are alot of "Directory Components" that are available for download.
