Still to see one Australian ad anywhere on the site I mean for christ's sake this place was getting promoted within Australia before the sale what are Aussies going to think when they come here now that it is a US site !
And yes I know there are Aussies who go to WHT US but who in their right mind would pay for ads to be displayed there?? What a waste of money
How do you spell deja vu???
Cheers
Angus

It happened twice, I checked to make sure I was logged in (I was) but that's about all I checked. Using Firefox 3.0.3 if that matters.
Hope you're not taking this criticism personally BTW.... it's not. Nobody likes change at the best of times... but it sure looks as if the way Inet have handled this particular change has been severely lacking in communication and it doesn't seem like they've considered the community's wishes at all.
They should know full well that the strength (and value) of this place is in the community - if that goes, they've just bought themselves an expensive domain name to plonk ads on.

Well when you think of it this way
on WHT AU - Currently Active Users: 41 (18 members and 23 guests)
on WHT US - Currently Active Users: 1259 (237 members and 1022 guests)
Out of those 1259 surely there are over 41 aussies on there... especially at this time of day
I'm not saying I agree with the whole thing

Gary
I got it when I clicked on the Go Advanced button when replying to a post
I see they haven't got to the View first unread issue yet lol
Is it just me or is anyone else only seeing about the same 6 ads coming up?
The planet alpha one on the right and a selection of about 5 different ones top of page

Yep, and I have since managed to replicate it myself. I ended trying so many things, but it was when moving a thread that I got it. Something's amiss, so we'll get that sorted.

Not at all. I'm a little surprised at some of the end of the world prophecies, but I've been through a few of these exact same changes and I'll keep my focus on the long term benefits for WHT-AU as a hosting discussion forum.

Adam
No idea how many aussies there might be there but will go with your estimate
The issue is not just the number of people there it is how many other ads are being rotated with yours and what are the chances that one of the aussies will be on a page when it happens to coincide with an aussie ad coming up on that page?
Then what is the probability they are actually looking for whatever service that ad is offering at that time
Probability theory would make it pretty damn low

I guess those of us that had advertising earlier in the season are glad it's over now, but I do feel for those of you who still had advertising running or to be run and have now lost out.

I do have to admit one thing and one thing only though...
WHT AU (or now US twin) does appear faster. Is anybody else noticing this?

It's called geotargeting and its effectiveness is evident in this thread.

Yes, it seems to be quite a bit faster, I will give them that.

I'm not sure what you mean, after reading your post I checked and the two ads displayed were still for US companies.... so it doesn't seem to be working atm

AU Banners that are running on WHT-US are being geotargetted to Australian users. Hence why a few of us have already seen it on WHT-US, and why I responded to Angus' "what are the chances" comment.
