Agreed, we paid for a long term of advertising and not really happy with the changes...

Maybe you haven't got your geotargettracker turned on so the geotargeter can find you?

WHT is a hosting discussion forum, WHT-AU has been a hosting discussion forum for Australians relating to the Australian hosting industry and hopefully remains that way.

That would be because the craptastic template from before has been put to stud.

All I've seen so far are massive ads for US based companies. So many providers on here push the Aussie benefits all day long. Now, when a general user comes along looking for hosting, as if they aren't going to be enticed by those nice big ads for US hosting. I guess that's what those advertisers are paying for....but I think it's the worst thing possible for the Australian hosting industry.
Sure, many Australian hosts offer US based hosting in addition to their core AU business.
Talk about total waste of screen real estate too. The new system is much quicker than the old one, but the layout is crud, for both the advertiser and the users who are after the content.
Change is always hard to take, but this definitely does not look like it's headed in the right direction.....

Indeed. Many of us bust it from day to day (I don't mean financially but it involves it) to make the best of the industry because we have it, it's our way of life and it is for alot of us, our life!
Gone are the days where AU hosting providers are going to be competing with each other. It's now going to be all AU providers fighting for survival in amongst the US provider advertisements and it's far from over yet.

Right, and when big US providers with the likes of LiquidWeb, Softlayer etc come along plastering their adverts on an AU forum...what chance to we have?
There's nothing wrong with any of those above mentioned providers. They all provide great service, but I still think leave it to the US. Bringing it here is only going to harm the Australian industry. I can't see any favours on the horizon.

Definitely not. To those clients, visitors and members to WHT-AU who are loyal and who will continue to use Australian providers, on behalf of all providers, I say thankyou
To those who are blow away or boggled by the US provider ads and simply leave or sign up for a non Aussie business...I do feel for you.
As far as I'm concerned, it's all about supporting Australia and it's economy and I can only see this as another way the independence is being taken away from us...only this time, its not the Australian government doing it.

Absolutely, Dale. What is the point of having WHT-AU now??? Honestly? It's not specific to AU anymore.
Yep, US providers will benefit, and probably most of the current members from here will stick around, post offers, etc, but it's certainly a kick in the guts from the powers that be.

Don't follow "it's effectiveness in this thread" comment unless I am missing your sarcasm again or I am particularly slow today
Ok - Aus ads on WHT US
Why? - because they geotrack non Web Hosts Australia staff who are in Australia and show Aussie ads for them thereby catering to Australian based people who go to WHT US?
Seems like a great idea
If WHT AU DIDN'T EXIST !!!
If they are genuine about WHT AU continuing and thriving then why not geotarget ads promoting WHT AU on WHT US to drive Aussies and those looking for Aussie solutions here?
Otherwise what need does an Aussie have to go come to WHT AU when he allegedly will see all the Aussie ads at WHT US?
Unless of course he wants to view ads for
Single Hop
Planet
Liquid Web
etc
etc
Which, due to "geotracking" ?? he will only see here
Confused but seeing clearly
Angus

Good idea, that would be a great idea. It would bring value to the advertisers and users alike!
