It's not all about the advertiser James. What about someone who wants to ask for services, not interested in joining any discussions at all? Do we stop them, and take that opportunity away from providers, by putting in so many restrictions that they just wont bother? Likewise, with thse who just want some feedback on their website. They might look at the advertising area one day, but not if the forum puts too many hurdles in their way.

At the end of the day, there will always be reportable posts happening. To lock things down so tight as to try and completely eradicate them, just creates more work. There were more messages from new users about how to make use of the forum when there were tighter restrictions in place, than there are whinges now. I prefer it that way.

Well at least we've uncovered one issue. The whinges have achieved something

I didn't realise the 10 post rule to post links had been removed either. Agree with you that it was annoying for a lot of people who tried to use it legitimately (ie not for advertising, but for help with a problem etc).

Please get over yourself as it is not helping if you want to make out that feedback from members is below you, either that or just quit as a mod and start your own forum up again where you can set all the rules and ban anyone who doesn't conform to them

As you can see I am totally over the smart arse comments from you when I try to make a suggestion that - if you look at the thread everyone agrees with - yet you can still call it whingeing

There I feel better

Angus, if you can't take a joke, I'll rephrase. There is, always has been, and always be, on any forum of this size, problems that keep occuring and a handful of people that feel the need to speak up about them.

Your initial post wasn't a constructive one. Not in my view anyway. Perhaps I just like things worded a little better before I take notice. It raises some valid points, but I went with option three and decided you were just venting. I'm allowed to do the same.

The same problems are often raised in the Mod's Lounge, and in most cases something is done. I wasn't aware of the usergroup permissions being reset so that will be fixed, and we've had enough of Gmail users for now so that's been banned for a while.

Your feedback's not below me Angus, but don't assume that I have to act on it. Your big enough and ugly enough to close a spam thread, or just report it and let the mods do their job, without having a whinge (there's no other word for it).

Re: Grave Diggers

Yeah Gary, whatever, as I am clearly the only person who ever noticed what was going on and decided to say something and no one else has posted in this threads to agree so it makes perfect sense for you to have a pointless bash at me especially when you knew, as did everyone else, I would respond and you get to take the thread OT Good onya Head Mod

You can email me through your posting linguistics and etiquette guide which I will be sure and give the attention and respect it deserves

Re: Grave Diggers

So.....who's up for a gathering with beer and sausages?

Give it a few days and I'm sure everyone will calm down and this will all blow over and we'll all be the merriest group again

Just like ol' times, aye sport?

I'm always merry, especially with less than two weeks to go before I start piping christmas carols through our home for a month solid.

Re: Grave Diggers

Just lock the old threads and the admins should try to make this forum more active so members can actually have something recent to reply to.

Re: Grave Diggers

Perhaps airing dirty laundry in public ain't the best way to get more members to a forum who participate

It's kinda like walking in on your parents arguing when you're a little kid.

As a new member, my first two posts were deleted without mention nor any cause I could find (someone asked why you'd go over 750GB a month and not need a second server, and seemed to rubbish the requirement as being stupid, all my servers seem to go over 2TB before being 'saturated' (regularly hitting 40% resource usage). Deleting them made me feel unwelcome. Next post I ended up gravedigging through lack of activity and an unanswered question.... isn't the answer to stop throwing eggs at newcomers and start more quality topics?
