Hi guys,
Seems the last thread I started was lost, so I'll start another one.
I'm looking around for some IP cameras, perhaps between $350-$500.
Choppy showed me a few, in particular this Linksys one..
We need some personal recommendations, and there was an online demo of the Linksys one I linked to, and it looks alright for the money.
Cheers,
(Also, there was a guy, Tim/Tom? that PM'd me about some cameras he had...if you could please PM me again, it'd be appreciated.)

We use the netcomm IP cameras, here is a link to there IP cameras range: http://www.netcomm.com.au/products2/ip_cameras
We chose to go with the NS380W series as they provide wither wireless or wired connectivity they work great... well recommended

Thanks. I've also heard/read alot of negative feedback on the entire Netcomm camera range, the same with DLink.
I'll have a look though

Just to clarify a bit more, I'm looking for a decent camera to mount in a warehouse, so the viewing distance must be decent.
The PVC2300 that I linked to has more advanced features and decent streaming, where as the cheaper ones fail in this regard.
Also, PoE is what I'm after, as it'll make cameras easier to deploy.
Cheers,
Andrew

We have a large amount of IP cameras which monitor our facilities and track movement throughout our building, you can’t move around without being fully recorded… that being said each camera is around 2k in price…. If you would like more specific information on IP camera setup please feel free to contact me, as I can’t publicly release this information.
I also am a reseller for linksys products, although linksys is a product I would never use for commercial adventure.
That being said if you want a cheap solution netcomm / Dlink and Linksys are all in the cheap end of the market.
If you want a serious solution Sony or Cannon are your only options.
Regards James

Axis Communications ( http://www.axis.com) are supposed to be the nice end of the market as far as IP cameras go. I've played with one before and the streaming compression they do is insane.
Not terribly cheap, as you might expect, but I believe you can get a POE one (say the 210/211?) for under $500.
Dlink are terrible, I've got an older one and it uses ActiveX and all sorts of other horrible stuff.

Mobotix IP Cameras are great. Got to play soccer with one. Be sure to check out where they have them running, the cameras are basically standalone and you can do some nifty things with the onboard scripting and input/outputs. Don't need a DVR if you don't want one either.
LAN1 are a local distributor.
I used a Netcomm NS4100 once too, didn't like it much. Couldn't play soccer with it but I felt like kicking it often enough.
Edit: Although they're a tad on the expensive side - they start at around $1k AUD.

Hi guys,
I'm looking at rolling out a monitoring station for a client of ours who has a busy workcentre.
Basically we're after say, 4-5 IP cameras. They'll be hooked up to a seperate switch on a segregated part of the network and attached to a box with Debian with Zoneminder ontop of it. The client will then monitor it using a large monitor on another desk.
Does anyone have any recommendations for IP cameras?
AXIS are a bit too pricey and do things we don't really need.
Something similar to the Linksys PVC2300 would be good. At around $370, they seem to fit the budget nicely!
Cheers all!

We are using two DLINK DCS-900? cameras as security cameras in a shop. We have been able to get a wireless variety of these.
Quality is ok. I think picture quality could be better. They are a little cheaper at ~$230 than your Linksys if budget becomes a bigger issue.
All in all we are happy enough with them.
Cheers
Mark

Hi mate. Cheers for that!
Do you think it's possible to get a screenshot of the quality of the image at all?
It might be a bit expensive if we start buying a model of each to test it out and find out they're a bit crappy..
Cheers,
Andrew

Cheers mate. Seems pretty good quality.
What management software are you using for it?
Cheers,
Andrew

A linux programm called motion. It only captures spurts of videos where there is some movmement/change in the view of the camera.
Motion can capture of more than one camera as well.
We haven't set it up with a live feed screen anywhere, so I don't know if motion can do that. We only review the captured videos when we think there has been some foul play or some other questionable conduct.

Excellent. Looks like you can run Zoneminder with motion nicely. Cheers for that!
