OK.

Your accountant will bork at this package as I couldn't see an easy way to generate a P&L and Balance sheet (or whatever we're calling them these days - Statement of Finical Position??), or a way to generate a tax summary for the period to do your BAS. This is not compliment.

You will need to manually enter the tax tables (for both PAYG and GST).

Doing a bank rec will be painful with lots of double entry compared to what you can do with MYOB.

My advise would be to use Excel / Open Office Calc or some other spreadsheet application for record keeping.

The ATO has a package called e-Record (http://www.ato.gov.au/erecord) this is free to use and your accountant won't go WFT as they can extract the info they need to prepare a tax return...

If you go down the path you've chosen expect big accounting fees, those that outweigh the cost of a professional package running on a remote desktop service if remote access is a MUST.

Angus posted above he's got a setup with remote desktop if you provide your own key? Well a MYOB Account Plus key is about $500 for up to 4-5 files and this will save you ten fold in the long run..

Re: Accounting Software

As this isn't in the service request section I'm not sure if I can give any more info and whether I should have made my last post - sorry just realised

Re: Accounting Software

OK - what you all say is very true.

I chose NolaPro as this will be used just for bank records of transactions etc.

Makes it a little easier for the accountant.

We have our own MYOB Premier licence which we could use.

FYI: Income Statement and Balance Sheet now... was Statement of Financial Performance and Statement of Financial Position but they changed their minds again

Looks kinda like a Salesforce competitor in some ways. I like the look of the financial features but I'd have to question whether there's an ATO compliance regime that has been followed (ie. are they certified?).

I've signed up for an account I'm that impressed with it. I'm also looking at writing some extensions for it and offering those into the marketplace.
