Re: Shopping cart that supports multiple images?

I've not heard much feedback yet about Magento so its great to finally hear some. There are so many great shopping cart systems out there, but many never quite hit the nail on the head when it comes to shipping modules. What is the shipping configuration like in Magento?

Re: Shopping cart that supports multiple images?

Magento has just gone 1.1 which is supposed to have improved the speed significantly. I've only just last night managed to get updates running in SSH - the browser based system doesn't want to work for me.

The interface is so much more polished than Zen-Cart (an OSCommerce fork) that I've been using previously. Hopefully the templating system is easier to use too.

I have to agree about Magento. We usually use CRE loaded because it is open source and has oscommerce relations. Interface is much nicer and has allot more web 2.0 features.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Magento has an Auspost module which I have installed I am yet to test it. Payment modules include Paypal, Direct Deposit (bank transfer), CC, Bpay. At this point both the CC & Direct Deposit options have been tested by the client and both work without a hitch, the client is currently waiting on a bpay account/confirmation so this can also be used as a payment option.

Cheers
Ros

CubeCart

I used it back in the days I had a small internet business, it was nice software with support for multiple images.

From a hosting perspective it sux. It's a huge memory hog and sucks up LOTS of CPU + DB time even with a PHP code cache running. On their forums I have seen their senior users say that it's not made for shared hosting but at minimum for VPS's. That's all well and good, but people are obviously going to (and are) trying to run it in shared hosting and then have a whinge when it runs like a dog. Minimum PHP memory allowance I've found is 40MB - and that's without ANY products loaded

To get it installed I upped the PHP memory_limit to 32 MB but it runs happily at the moment (with almost no products) when limited to 16MB. In fact, the only reason it's even got 16 MB still is because I'm not fussed to have to change it every time I might want to the the built in updater.

Re: Shopping cart that supports multiple images?

I also found a few contributions for this on the OSCommerce site. I sampled/installed most of them to see which one was the best and I think there was only one that didn't work at all. Just remember to backup your cart prior to making the changes.
