Anyone else use MD Webhosting?
|
|
I tried a little search, but am in need of some information rather quickly.
I am and have had my site with MD Webhosting for almost 3 years now, and am in a week about to renew.. I have however over the space of the last year had endless problems with these guys and would like to know what other who are using them may think?
They said they are making their tech support much better, but they take well over 24hrs to respond to a support ticket.. In the past 6 months my site has been screwed up twice, once to some hacker putting bad code into it, when they assure me it sis well secure.. and once just from them making changes and ruining everything.. Loosing all my emails twice..
Is anyone else having similar problems with MD? Or anyone happy with their services?
I am worried as soon, i will be opening a new online store, and am wondering who to host it with, i dont know any other hosts, and would love to have my two sites on the same hosting package, but an a little dubious to put it with them ,as i cant trust that it will be online 24/7 without countless issues..
And help would be highly appreciated..
Thanks in advance!

We've heard quite a few bad remarks about MD Webhosting, but I can't really say who or when - but they must be doing something right, they've been around for a quite sometime now I believe.

Hi Man-O-Leisure, and thanks for your ongoing support. As you are a long term customer I would be more than happy to bump you up onto our new high-availability, clustered cloud computing platform. You can read more about it on our blog: http://www.mdwebhosting.com.au/blog/
From your post I know that data integrity is important to you; we take a daily snapshot backup of all sites that live inside the cloud. There is actually enough capacity to store many concurrent dailys.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Tom,And thanks for this. I am happy to see you guys do care! Wjhat do i need to do to go ahead with this offer?
I was not trying to have a whinge about MD, just wanting to see others thoughts, as i am in the very near future going to be opening up another, maybe 2 sites, which will be ecommerce sites, and was definately worried after i had trouble just with my personal site.

I'm sorry to say that MD has almost cost me my business is the past when I used to co locate and I would never recommend them to anyone, I found support was extremely poor, no customer server that was willing to help and they basically didn't care about the outcome. Anyhow This has being almost 2 years now, so things might have changed who knows.

MD has never offered co-lo. Maybe you're confusing us with some other company.

I also use them and have had about four separate issues in the last couple of weeks. Also have had hacking issues.
I've also had issues with people not being able to see my webstore when other people can. I've not been able to figure it out but was told by md that everything is configured correctly.
I just logged into my cpanel today to find that my account has been changed. I was previously on an unlimited disk space / fantastico account from years back. Now apparently I only have 188mb of space and the fantastico link is gone.
Are they allowed to do that? I'm really annoyed and considering just leaving them. There's no point if they are just gonna change stuff on me. I'm beginning to think all the downtime issues I was having was just them meddling in my account.

Seems MD aren't too good at registering domains. I just had a customer I lost to MD ringing me asking why their website is down. It seems they moved to MD (to save a couple of dollars) including transferring their 2 domains which never got transferred and eventually expired.
They saved a few bucks a year and have since lost thousands by having their sites offline for 2 weeks.

Probably when you signed up quotas were not built properly.
I can't really know more without your account details. Obviously we would not give anyone unlimited space on purpose (nor have we ever offered such plans)
In regards to Fantastico, we have moved a couple of servers around very recently, and the server probably still needs the Fantastico license transferred across. If you let me know what server you are on I could assist.

Where do I find out what server I am on?
The quota in my cpanel doesn't even add up to anything near a round gig mark. So now I have no idea what my quota actually is, since the "unlimited" that used to be there was obviously untrue.
Could you check my other thread in regards to the nameserver stuff I posted?
http://www.webhostingtalk.com.au/f2/...-my-plan-7916/
Edit: Don't worry about the fantastico, I just refreshed my panel and it's magically reappeared.
Actually scratch that, when I click on it I get the error:
Fantastico is not installed at the default location /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico. Either move the Fantastico directory from it's current location to /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico OR enable ioncube loaders in WHM -> Tweak settings.

Umm ok....so why even bother posting at all?
Kind of a pointless post, don't you think?
