If I got a dollar or each time I told you hostingshop and dedicatedServers are two different companies I could make a fulltime wage off your bad memory.
Srsly this would have to be the 20th time you've asked this question, Perhaps not on WHTAU but online.

Hey,
It seems to be a bit of a trend to build datacenters away from the city these days just look @ micron21's and the new one your getting all heated up about. (i recall outter east brisbane)
Jon Would be interested in finding out any information you have to offer

I can think of like two. I hardly call that a trend.
M21's DC & The one in Kenmore, Do you know of others outside CBD Areas?
This thread is starting to get a little OT.
More to the topic I would be interested to see how you can cover the costs of running a DC from doing storage and DR as the core focus ? Can't imagine there would be huge coin in it otherwise there would be heaps of Dc's like this already around.

ozservers Datacenter (outter-east/west ) and even the fujitsu is noble park (thats not real close is it)
Does seem a bit pointless, although was talking about 20 racks so he would need something of size.

Hey, above, I specifically posted an ON Topic point. As I already noted this was becoming OT.
I'm sick of having good threads closed on me when I have something important to add.

Better off starting with ten and going from there if all your doing is off site backup and such.
You can get a lot of SANS and blade servers in ten racks.
Good point with the D/c, Still I hardly call 4 Datacenters a trend.

HMm considering there aint that many dc's in aus, and that of the ones i named where some of the most recently built ones i would say thats a trend '.' <- See Fullstop. Ohh and dont forget hostnetworks DC!!!
I think the OP said he needed 20 racks, so i assume he may of already thought of blades etc.
Also in regards to getting off topic, if you go back and read the first post he says nothing about whether a DC is the right option, just asks questions regarding pricing.
Another thing you might wanna counter in is the cost of the physical costs, Routers, The Racks themselve and even security.
Chris
Ohh and welshy stop making up stuff about 'important' posts when we all no your just trying to get your post count up

I already posted about other costs involved when I posted about land and building.
Post count up aye, I'm not the least bit interested in post count. Your the one thats higher then me and you've been on WHT less then me. Also just to point fun at you.
Says the one who has 130 post of "stuff" and didn't you just get off a WHTAU ban ?
Teheheh, Taking the p!ss, for anyone else that can't see the joke here-

Anywho talking about getting offtopic :P
I don't Believe what i mentioned had been said before, most people have talked about infrastructure, so i tlked about the equipment that was needed, and from the sounds of it things like routers and racks can be very expensive.
