Re: Webcity.com.au anyone?

Hi Bennett,
Before ringing webcity, the first thing I did was ring our service provider over here (Zen). Their support team was absolutely fantastic. Zen asked me to do a tracert, helped me diagnose the problem and then suggested I ring webcity. So I had this information at hand during the long 90 minutes waiting for your team to answer the phone. I tried to convey this information during the call, but clearly was unsuccessful. So, let's try to be very clear now.

The information you requested is below.

I am very surprised to have to conduct this dialogue through a public forum. I would very much appreciate it if we could drop the "customer is always wrong" attitude and focus on the problem and getting the service back up and running as quickly as possible.

Re: Webcity.com.au anyone?

Man I'm so glad I found this forum - I was just about to sign up with Webcity.

Bennett - Mate you need a career change - your attitude is unbelievable!! I'M GONNA MAKE SURE i TELL EVERYONE i KNOW TO AVOID WEBCITY.

Careergirl - I assumed your posting might have been a little exaggerated - but Bennets post proved me so wrong - his condescending attitude was ridiculous (We all know what it's like talking to the support guy who just wants to get off the phone - and talks to you like you don't have a clue).

FYI, Bennett's not a support guy - he's the boss - admin@enetica.com.au

Re: Webcity.com.au anyone?

I'd a few problems recently. C-Panel shows at least one drive is 98% full at least (usually two drives) and I've had outages all weekend (one for 6 hours according to one user of my site, but I can not verify if it was actually that long).

Tonight when the site was down I tried to get on too the webcity main page but even that was down. I thought "maybe there's upgrading the HD's" but when I got back into C-panel they still showed the same percentage full, so I'm starting to get a bit peeved.

Apart from that, except for the last two months, they haven't been to bad, but I haven't requested any support so I've probably missed the worst side of them.

Seems like this was the right place to vent about them, according to a few other posts in this thread.

My understanding this was planned downtime @ enetica/webcity/host1/cia?

My last notification of planned downtime was for 8pm Sat April 14.
Been a while...
I did consider that but couldn't find anything.

One way of looking at it is now I know what to expect. It is a good price but I have to consider the down time as a cost too I guess.

Re: Webcity.com.au anyone?

We received an email on the 18th advising of their planned outage. It might worth checking your contact details with them and/or spam filtering?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Webcity will carry out some major upgrades to our network on
Friday 19th October. This will result in a disruption to our
services, including all domain services, dns services and
hosting services. The disruption will be from 11PM on Friday
to 7AM Saturday.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Regards,
Webcity.

Re: Webcity.com.au anyone?

Good idea. I will check.
Having said that, yesterday they were down for ages (not planned? it was sunday, not friday) and it's still really slow, so I think I'll move on. Thanks for your help anyway .

Re: Webcity.com.au anyone?

Hi all,

I have spent a lot of time building my new site using J1.5 on MAMP, and I am about to go live, so I have been researching to find the right host.

So I'm a customer looking for a service provider. I have a LOT invested in what I have built and it's important. To me. The customer.

Found this thread and site from googling about Webcity, read it, and had to join this site.

@ Careergirl, your posts were well written, and thank you for the topic.

My second choice was Jumba, and I started the sign up process with them.

On other investigation, I found this thread, http://www.webhostingtalk.com.au/f2/...ba-merge-6269/

At this stage, can I just say how disappointed I am in the service providers in both threads. Thank you for the insight, but I wouldn't host with either provider now (including AHQ - my third choice). Do you realise that your customers are reading what you are writing, and when you carry on in such an unprofessional manner, that your customers will run from you.

I wonder about the age and maturity of both providers, and there is no way I will consider hosting with either. And there is no way I would ever tolerate being spoken down to in the way that has gone on in these threads.

@ Moderators, you've been fair in both threads, showing fairness to all involved without bias. Cheers.

Thanks for letting me post. I'm shocked, but grateful I found these threads before I made a big mistake.

But my search starts from scratch, again

(from what I've read it seems I have to say that I am not a competing host, just a bloke with a site about gardening ready to launch, and I'm not happy )

Re: Webcity.com.au anyone?

Since WebCity are Enetica, I think the questions to ask are

1) What is different about the WebCity service that makes their plans cheaper than the Enetica plans?

2) Will that difference have an impact on your business?

I'm a small end user, and moved from WebCity to Netlogistics. I recommend Netlogistics to my clients.

A lot of websites only consist of a few pages that get updated a couple of times a year, for them Webcity would probably be fine?

Re: Webcity.com.au anyone?

Funny you say that.

After spending the day on Sunday looking for a host, I went through my usual routine of following the recommendations I found, checking the companies and their offers.

Then last of all googling to try to find any possible complaints about them online, which is the same process that led me to this thread.

That process took me to Net Logistics as a prime choice, the company looks genuine and professional, and trying to do what's right by their clients, and it's offers seem OK (could be better). I found no complaints.

In fact. I found what was a customer grievance on WP, and whether the customer was right or wrong is irrelevant, the management was on hand to assist and fix any concerns as quickly as possible for the benefit of the client, in a professional manner.

Net Logistics and their attitude to, and treatment of their clients won me, and I feel confident in my decision to host with them.
