60k+ worth of hosting customers
|
|
a business partner and i have been running a hosting business for about 5 years now. we have approx $60k+ of revenue per year and currently pay around $15k in colo fees at primus. So i'd say the profit there is roughly $45-50k a year.
just wondering if we were to sell these customers off, what it would be worth? my business partner doesn't have the time anymore and i am not really in a position to buy him out.

are you using a billing system?
That affects the value; obviously if it's something we can import that helps.
Oh, and how many customers? how many sites? Is the LAMP assumption correct?

our own basic billing system, about 150 customers. so yes im guessing would take some time to import into your own systm.

Hello Napalm,
I'm a bit confused. Are you selling your business or expanding it? Or just downsizing?
Looking for Primus Colo Melbourne

You just shot yourself in the foot there buddy..
What you are telling a potential buyer is buy my business but im opening another one and can more that likely take the clients back.
Nobody will sell the business without a non compete agreement for about 2 years min.

He has said he is considering selling off the hosting component to concentrate on web design and development so I don't see anything wrong with that in fact it would potentially provide a source of new clients to any purchaser
Cheers
Angus

Angus the business is still in the same league as what you are selling..
Would it be hard if half his customers for web and dev are also the hosting customers and decides later to suggest his OWN web hosting services again?
Not much.. So the NON COMPETE agreement wont give him the chance.. If he starts working for the company that has bought his partnered company over then different story as everything he creates his their own (Companies) intellectual property.

I'm assuming with that amount of a client base having been built, he'd have at least some business savvy about him.
Just sayin', you know, maybe he does have an idea what he's doing.
