It is to track both. Alot of businesses we deal with still require quotations before placing an order - whether to get the price approved or for other reasons.
If we require an accounting package bc modernbill doesn't handle finances very well, and a helpdesk such as kayako bc modernbill doesn't handle that well - all we're really getting is account creation and management and the onus task of integrating this with all the other systems and our domain registrar.
We would prefer a boxed solution but looking at it this way it may be easier to develop our own.

Michael, I am curious about what systems you guys run as you would have gone through all this in you merger.
Unfortuntaley we need a little bit more than a rebranded invoice. Plus you cannot management them easily if both quotations and invoices are bunddled together.
We need to be able to produce and send a quotation via email, then have it electronically accepted before an invoice is generated and sent for payment. Obviously with online signups this is not an issue and no quotation would be generated. It is manily for the big clients and products/services that are more than just web hosting - ie design, consultancy, etc. We want to be able to manage this all online.
We want and need a truely online business to reduce costs.
