It's always nice to see I am not the only one with a thought and even more refreshing to see that concern getting a public and uncensored airing Confusion over Crucial's "cloud" VPS - Web Hosting - Whirlpool Forums compared to here where it is first moved to the providers section then I am told I am not allowed to name any names
While WP may have its detractors at least free thought appears to be freely available but then I guess they don't have advertisers interests to protect
Cheers in anticipation of where this thread will end up
- I say that half in jest but still in the earnest hope it can actually be left alone for everyone to see and comment on for a change

WP, whinge pool. Is not as good for hosting providers.
If you have a sirious issue with a provider, people should take it up with them directly.
Especially when us providers have things such as the privacy acts to worry about.
People rant and rave on WP, but if everyone used WP as their own personal support forum, as some people think it is. They would soon want to sue someone if WP got hacked and someone got hold of their private information.
Hosts have SSL's on their sites for a reason.

Some providers use it as their own personal support forum just so they will get some Publicity from it. The quicker they respond on there, the better they look.

OK just a second please
This is not a thread for bashing WP or even assessing its' pros and cons, it is about quite the opposite - the fact that hosts can be questioned there on their products and practices where that is not permitted here - I guess though that you have to be familiar with the thread I originally created and was subsequently censored and hidden from public view

I prefer this forum a lot more than the web hosting section of the WP forum. At least hear, if some-one asks for an offer for a service to be provided, you are able to promote your offer to them and they can make a choice. Advertising on WP is not allowed.
This forum is also better for discussing web hosting issues in general.

For the first time ever (I think?), I have to agree with Angus in this thread and the other one (which I can't see because I don't have access to it, but Michael showed me).
If this was us going out saying we provided "cloud" hosting and saying that we don't oversell anything, you would have Myzteriouz1 and his cohorts all over it like a rash. It's interesting to see that none of them have touched that thread though?
Even though our VPS offerings sell out within days of them becoming available, it doesn't help when we're constantly asked why we don't provide "cloud" hosting, and why we're "expensive" compared to others.
But 30+ VM's one a single piece of hardware is just asking for trouble - no matter who you are.

Nothing like the smell of fresh dissent and bickering after a good holiday - it appears as if I missed nothing.
The poster in question has publicly attacked one of my employees previously. I have no reason to believe that the posters intentions are anything other than malicious and spurious, but I am perhaps biased and jaded.
These are just my opinions.

I found that thread on WP. It was an interesting read.
I can understand your thinking about that poster in particular.

You need to remember that WP users love some hosts and hate others, unless something happens to those hosts and then you get 14 page threads on how bad the providers are.

The point to this thread is that on WP someone was able to question the same host's offering and it is there to be discussed whereas when I did the same thing here I had my thread moved to the hidden provider's area and told if I named names the thread would be deleted
As I mentioned earlier this is not a thread about the type of people who post on WP or here but it is about censorship as the name of the thread indicates

How long do you think that post would have lasted if you posted to Whirlpool, naming names?
I just asked you to "Play the ball, not the man" and save the mod team from yet another nightmare of cleaning up after you.
Not my problem now, go your hardest.

This is an excellent topic.
I have to say that I think the reason WP (I will limit my comments to the Web Hosting Area ONLY) is because it is not run or moderated by people in the industry (correct me if I am wrong) but rather by people who buy from it.
This then leads to a favoritism system of if they like you then you can post what you want. If not, prepare to be censored or deleted.
I think as long as topics stay on-track (which they rarely do) they can also be voiced here as that is the purpose of a forum. Forum by definition means:an assembly, meeting place, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.(dictionary.com)
As long as personal attacks do not take place I see all is fair.

I would strongly urge anyone with a tagged rep account in Whirlpool to visit the rep forums there - there is an ongoing discussion of this nature there as well, which I would like to continue in the civil form it has taken thusfar.
Also, what is this "hidden provider forum" that exists within the ether and do I have to sign a blood pact to get access as I did with Whirlpool?
