    Melbourne IT to buy UberGlobal
I am not really surprised by this news at all.
But it will give Melbourne IT a pretty large market share in the Australian hosting industry.
Melbourne IT to acquire Uber Global - ARN
But their is such a thing as growing too quickly.

That said, migrations are not always easy to plan, and even with the best planning things can still go wrong.
Computers are funny things at times.
So when will this all be finalised? and I gather their are no changes planned for existing platforms?

I won't be moving anytime soon, as its a pain in the arse.
I don't have any issues with companies being acquired its a fantastic growth strategy.
I am constantly on the lookout for hosting providers to buy out as its a great way of growing the business and making more money.
Or if the business offers something you currently don't offer, its a nice way of expanding services and making more profit that way.

MY only problem with this is if they bring Uber up to MelbourneIT pricing :P

How they get away with $77 a year for .com.au is beyond me.

    They are not stupid.
Nothing will change in the short to medium term.
They would of wanted UBER mostly for the Government and enterprise customer base as well as the wholesale clients, as Melbourne IT recognise that growth through acquisition is a good strategy, afterall thats how Uber started in the first place, it was the merger between two smaller hosting providers that grew the business.
