Re: Can't connect to Server

Thats strange as I can't get to it.
But I could about 2 days ago. I have tried 2 pcs in my house and none of them can connect, I am just wandering if I should re-install my Contribs.org SME Server which does my firewall, dns, proxy.
Where would the problem lie, as when I ping it times out, I can't connect via ms remote desktop connection. Would it be the firewall setup on the other end.

Hi Matt,
Most likely it could be your firewall setup. Has SME server done an update of some kind in the last 2 days?

Go buy some fireworks in Chinatown, take the Contribs.org SME Server outside and light it up *bang*
This Linux gateway is giving you all sorts of problems. When it does do a reboot or do the above.

Re: Can't connect to Server

Today I wiped my sme server and did a fresh install. I still can't connect to this one server. But I can connect to all the other places I normally do fine.
And I can connect to the server that I can't connect to from home from other places.
I have tried other pcs in my house and they can't connect to this one server either.
What else could be the problem.

Your IP could be in the firewall

What are you doing exectly???
Is your network setup like this??
Home Network:
PC --> Switch --> Linux Gateway (SME) --> Cable Modem --> Bigpuddle
Work / Office Network
PC --> Switch --> Linux Gateway (SME) --> ADSL --> Bigpuddle
Now your creating a VPN to work / office from HOME to connect into the SME server their or have you created port forwarding at work and are connecting to it via a public static IP?

OK sounds like you don't have the SME server doing loop back (ie accessable internally via NAT) which isn't technically possiable without atleast a /29 so you can route back to yourself.
Try accessing it via the local IP when you connect the VPN assuming you've used different local IP ranges. Like 10.xx.xx.0/24 at work and 192.168.0.1/24 at home.
Hope that gives you a starting block.

I can't connect to the vpn
I get the error # 800 Unable to establish VPN Connection.
But I can vpn into work from other places.
I have got to other places with the same setup and I can connect to them without any problems.
I can even connect to my home. from work and other connections.

Is your local IP addressing different to work or the same?
