Wow! Lots of feedback. Thanks guys!
We do have a map at
Tourism - but the site is really not meant to be a promotional thing (it's for a Consular Office), so the front-page is intentionally "strictly business". That said, always nice to hear first impressions and I'll certainly take that into account if I hear the same thing again.
On the resolution issue: Thanks for bringing this to my attention - it seems that the late addition of the news module messed it up a little. Around 3% of our visitors are 800x600
or lower. All major netbooks except one model have resolutions of or above 1024x580. However, 3% is significant for our traffic, and 800-wide design is important for mobile devices and Win7 Aero Snap on 22" monitors (820px), so I've updated the front page CSS to a wider min-width, while keeping the min-width low on other pages.
While I was at it, I also centered the page on larger screens and reduced the max-width for readability.
0.34% of visitors visit on the iPhone/iPod Touch. the site works, but it's not obvious how to scroll it (you need to scroll with two fingers to scroll inside a scrolling div or frame), so I have added a mobile-specific stylesheet that turns off the overflow (and reduces image loads).
Thanks for the feedback and compliments guys, they're really very much appreciated. I would also be very happy to hear any criticism, constructive or otherwise.
